MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 18, 2007--Qwest Communications International Inc. (NYSE: Q) today announced a spokesperson agreement with Joe Mauer, catcher for the Minnesota Twins.

Mauer will serve as a spokesperson for Qwest to showcase Qwest's communications and entertainment services and community efforts in Minnesota.

Beginning today, for every run-batted-in (RBI) Mauer achieves during the regular season, Qwest will donate $200 to Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota, up to $10,000. Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota works with more than 400 mentoring programs statewide to connect young people with quality mentoring experiences.

Mauer is a native of St. Paul, Minn. In 2006, Mauer won the American League batting title, becoming the first American League catcher to win that, and at 23, the youngest batting champ since Alex Rodriguez (21) in 1996.

The agreement also calls for Mauer to make a special appearance at a Qwest-sponsored event, and represent Qwest in advertising campaigns.

Qwest also maintains a separate sponsorship agreement with the Minnesota Twins.
