SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 2007--Qwest employees and the Qwest Foundation have joined forces and shown their Spirit of Service in Utah by pledging nearly $200,000 to seven different Utah United Way organizations, the company announced today.
The $199,633 donation includes more than $58,300 for the United Way of Salt Lake, which serves communities in Salt Lake, Davis, Summit and Tooele counties. Donations are from 2006.
"I'm so proud of the company, our great employees and the Qwest Foundation," said Jerry Fenn, Qwest president for Utah. "United Way does such great things for our communities, and we are pleased that Qwest is furthering its work in promoting education and other worthwhile efforts. I am especially proud that the bulk of these donations are coming directly from employees."
The donations come from Qwest employees and the Qwest Foundation, which provides an additional 75 cents for every dollar donated by employees. The employee gift is more than $116,800, and the matching Qwest Foundation grant is more than $82,800.
