Westport was recognized for its exceptional performance in integrating Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) principles into corporate culture and operations, and for contributions the company and its employees have made to the community.
"Aside from providing near-term, clean transportation solutions to the world, Westport contributes significantly to British Columbia's and Canada's economies and communities. Their commitment to CSR is evident not only in their clean engine products and technologies but also in how they manage the environmental footprint of their operations and promote community engagement and volunteerism among their staff," said Cindy Pearson, Vice-President of BC TIA.
David Demers, Westport's Chief Executive Officer, who accepted the award on behalf of Westport, said, "We cannot ignore our values when we come to work-in some ways, our work reflects our values, not the other way around. It is important to our values and mission to understand how we as individuals can embed community and environmental responsibility in our business operations."
