MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/30/09 -- Astral Media Inc. (TSX: ACM.A)(TSX: ACM.B) today announced that it will host a one-day radiothon for children's health on Thursday, April 30th, in 28 cities and on 50 radio stations across Canada, in support of 15 children's hospitals and health care facilities.

In the past we have had significant success in hosting radiothons in the majority of our markets and this year we have increased the number of stations involved and the hospitals that benefit. Our people invest a lot of time and energy into making this a successful event and we do so because we really believe in doing what we can in the communities where we live and work."
On April 1, Astral Media will begin a one-month promotional campaign for the radiothon to raise awareness for the day and encourage Canadians to give generously to the Children's hospital in their community. The campaign, created by BOS, will air on 53 of Astral Media's 82 radio stations; on 11 of its 20 television services, its outdoor advertising network in key markets as well as on web banners on the majority of its radio station websites. A microsite will also be launched to communicate details of the radiothon event, offering a point of access to the children's hospitals and radio stations where people can give.
The 50 radio stations involved in the radiothon across Canada have been working with their partner hospitals or health care facility for quite a few months to coordinate and organize the logistics for the day. In many markets, a pre-fundraising initiative called change bandits; change crusaders or banditos launched this week to raise awareness for the radiothon and to begin the process of raising money for local children's hospitals.
In many markets, the radio stations work with Children's Miracle Network, an international non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children's hospitals and health foundations. Each year, working with 14 Canadian children's hospitals, Children's Miracle Network creates miracles by providing the finest medical care, life-saving research and preventative education to help millions of kids overcome diseases and injuries of every kind.
