Webgrrls International has launched an interactive JobBank this week at http://www.webgrrls.com/jobbank.
The JobBank will help women find jobs in the new media and technology industries and provide employers and recruiters direct access to a pool of highly-qualified candidates they might not otherwise be able to reach.
The Webgrrls JobBank will facilitate the connection between the members of Webgrrls International and potential employers and will increase access to jobs for women. Members can create, update and maintain their resume online, search the job postings locally or from around the world, customize a job search assistant, and apply for jobs from the website.
"Webgrrls has always been an amazing source of job leads for members both locally and internationally." said Eileen Shulock, chapter leader for the New York City chapter. "Whether you're in a big city or a small town, Webgrrls continues to offer resources that help women gain a foothold in technology."
"With the initiation of the JobBank, Webgrrls International offers its members yet another robust tool for self-empowerment." said Robin Ives, chapter leader of the Charlotte, NC, "Given the difficulty of matching suitable candidates to existing jobs in the current IT job market, the Webgrrls JobBank provides membership with a distinct advantage in the job-hunting process."
For employers and recruiters, there are many different JobBank package options to purchase; from a single job posting to combination packages including multiple job listings and resume searching and from one month to full year packages.
"Employers will naturally turn to the largest and best educated pool of labor which, by default, will be women." said John A. Challenger, chief executive officer of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. "Most jobs, especially those in the technology sector, will require at least a four-year degree. Women, by virtue of the fact that they outnumber men in terms of college degrees, will undoubtedly become the job candidates of choice."
"The Webgrrls JobBank is going to quickly become an essential tool for all members as well as for businesses worldwide." said Jeanette Stanhope, chapter leader of the Seattle chapter. "Companies are looking at the diversity of their workforce even more and the JobBank will provide easier access and a direct link to these very talented women."
"Many of our members have landed the positions they currently hold through networking at Webgrrls events and meetings." said Lisanne Wilcox, chapter leader for the Twin Cities, MN chapter. " The JobBank will further enhance the opportunities Webgrrls International has already provided for women to compete in technology and further strengthen the collective voice of Webgrrls International"
WEBGRRLS INTERNATIONAL is the first and largest global Internet organization for women which offers online and offline resources, creating a forum for women to network, exchange job and business leads, and learn new media skills to help them succeed in an increasingly technical workplace and world.
