SOMERS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--It's called the "PBG Block Party" this year - the annual day that The Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc.'s (PBG) employees celebrate family and community together at the Company's headquarters in Somers, N.Y. But along with giving employees and their families entertainment, food and fun with a multicultural flair, PBG will also provide two local organizations with financial support to continue their important work.
The Pepsi Bottling Group Foundation (The PBG Foundation) will present Neighbors Link of Mt. Kisco, N.Y. and the Urban League of Southwestern Connecticut each a check for $2,500. The presentation ceremony will take place at 5:15 p.m. in PBG's Visitor Parking Lot, as part of the PBG Block Party event.
Neighbors Link works to integrate Latino immigrants into the community through a variety of services, including computer training, English instruction and family counseling. The Urban League of Southwestern Connecticut is based in Stamford, Conn. and helps enable African-Americans and other minority groups to achieve economic self-reliance through employment, youth, housing and economic development programs.
"We have a strong tradition at PBG of incorporating community service into our Company celebrations here at our headquarters - and at our business locations across the country," said Angela Buonocore, Vice President of Corporate Communications at PBG. "We know that Neighbors Link here in Westchester County and the Urban League of Southwestern Connecticut make a tremendous difference in the lives of people in our surrounding communities, and these donations are a way to help them continue their great work."
"We are grateful to The Pepsi Bottling Group for its generous donation to our organization," said Carola Bracco, Executive Director of Neighbors Link. "Neighbors Link is a collaboration of caring people who are dedicated to meeting the needs of thousands of Latino immigrants in our community. This donation from PBG will support our biweekly Family Night program, which brings together parents and their children for an evening of fun and education."
"We're excited about this opportunity to be recognized by PBG employees and The Pepsi Bottling Group Foundation for the good work we are doing in our community," said Valarie Shultz-Wilson, President and CEO of the Urban League of Southwestern Connecticut. "And we look forward to continuing to partner with PBG as we expand our services and offer them to even more people in Southern Connecticut."
