RUSHDEN, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2006--Bright Horizons Family Solutions (NASDAQ: BFAM), the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care and early education, was named to the Financial Times' "2006 Best Workplaces in the UK" by the Great Place to Work Institute UK.

Bright Horizons Family Solutions is ranked 37th on the 50 "Best Workplaces in UK" list, a tribute to the organisation's commitment to its employees and the employees' commitment to each other as they work to support children and families. Bright Horizons has more than 1,700 employees in the UK and more than 18,000 worldwide, mainly nursery staff and teachers whose life's passion is to educate and care for children every day.

Bright Horizons Chief Executive Officer David Lissy said, "Making the Best Workplaces in the UK list is an important honour and special achievement for our entire team who make Bright Horizons a special place for employees to grow, to learn and to build a career. We are proud to join many of our clients on the prestigious list as we continue to work in partnership to become employers of choice in the UK and around the world. This designation is a fitting salute to the guiding principles Bright Horizons was founded on to create a collaborative family-friendly workplace that encourages professionalism, growth and diversity at our nurseries and administrative offices. Together, we aim to make Bright Horizons a special community of co-workers who share a common passion to make a difference in the lives of the children and families in our care."

Susan Hay, Director of the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children in Europe, said, "This recognition could not be a more fitting way to celebrate Bright Horizons' special culture of caring. Bright Horizons' mission extends to encouraging employee volunteering in local communities and working for children in distress through the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children. This commitment to our communities and serving children in need is an important part of why our employees join and stay with our company."

The annual list of "Best Workplaces in the UK" recognises employers that provide good and healthy work environments and set an exemplary professional benchmark for others. Among the strict criteria for this honour is a random employee survey that evaluates workers' trust in management, pride in their work and in their organisation, and camaraderie with co-workers. Companies are also measured on the demographics of the employee population, types of benefits offered, distinctive workplace practices, employee recognition and workplace governance. The scoring is calculated by giving the greatest weight and importance to the employee survey which counts for two-thirds of the score and one-third is attributed to the management survey and other material. The list and related stories appear in the Financial Times available at www.ft.com.
