ebase is currently used by more than 4,000 nonprofit organizations nationwide to manage stakeholder information. TechRocks has provided ebase as a free relationship management database application available to nonprofits as an alternative to commercial database software packages. ebase 2.0 for FileMaker was released in 2002. In Fall 2002, Groundspring and ebase partnered to better serve their respective customers and users by seamlessly integrating Groundspring's online donation data with the ebase system.
Groundspring plans to support current versions of ebase now used in the nonprofit community and to work closely with the ebase Community Development Program. ebase will continue to be supported by existing ebase staff (who will become employees of Groundspring), notably Bob Schmitt and Clif Graves.
Groundspring's current technology services include: DonateNow, used by nonprofits to raise money on the Internet, and EmailNow, an email messaging service designed to help nonprofits send out eNewsletters, raise money online and communicate with supporters.
Groundspring intends to integrate ebase with its other online technologies to provide a robust electronic Contact Management System (eCRM). Furthermore, Groundspring will lead the development of ebase Enterprise, an open source version of ebase to be built and supported by the ebase user and developer community.
"We're thrilled to be incorporating ebase into the Groundspring family of Internet services," comments Dan Geiger, Groundspring.org Executive Director. "We think that integrating ebase with DonateNow and EmailNow will provide great value to small and mid-size nonprofits that are seeking alternatives to costly, commercial solutions."
"Groundspring is the perfect place for ebase to evolve into its next incarnation," says Marshall Mayer, CEO of TechRocks. "They have the vision, resources and talent to support the existing ebase user community, and also to help build ebase Enterprise."
