CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS for the LUCITA 2004 Socially Responsible Media & Communications Report

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS for the LUCITA 2004 Socially Responsible Media & Communications Report

Published 02-03-04

Submitted by LUCITé€

MILFORD, CT — LUCITA, a socially responsible media consultancy company and a signatory member of the United Nations Global Compact, has issued a general call for participants for its upcoming specialized report on organizational use and perception of social responsibility in media and communications products and services.

The first edition of the LUCITA Socially Responsible Media & Communications Report compares the ways in which US and UK corporations, small businesses and non profit organizations engaged in some aspect of social responsibility utilize their media and communications, whether internally or externally.

Evaluation of the integrity and social responsibility of media and communications is notoriously difficult, largely due to the vast variety of media content and platforms in existence, and to the subjective nature of nearly all media content and communications. The researchers, however, have already started to see trends forming and are eager to see how the rest of the study will shape up.

Aside from analysis and assessment of the findings, the report will feature additional relevant content such as interviews with industry experts and other authorities.

Qualification and Participation
All entities interested in taking part in this study should contact Birgitte Rasine, producer of the report, at info@lucita.net or +1 203.878.2137 (East Coast US). Upon qualifying for the study, each respondent will receive an overview document as well as the questionnaire. The typical length of time required to complete the questionnaire is 30 minutes.

Sectors
LUCITÀ is accepting non profit and for profit respondents within the following sectors:

  • Consulting
  • Food & Beverage
  • Energy
  • Finance/Investment
  • Hotel/Travel/Tourism
  • Industrial & Architectural Design
  • Media & Communications
Additional sectors will be covered in future editions of this report.

    Purpose of Report
The purpose of this research report is to

  • help assess organizational perception, understanding, and usage of socially responsible media & communications content and services
  • catalyze cross-sectoral dialogue and activity to improve existing media & communications content and services and make them more socially responsible
  • produce guidelines for and best-use models of socially responsible media and communications content and services

    Motivation
In today’s socioeconomic and geopolitical environments, complex and diverse issues are increasingly interrelated—business can no longer ignore climate change, corporations are holding dialogues about human dignity and environmental protection, and the public is less and less complacent about matters that impact them directly, from ethical health care to the excesses of corrupt accounting practices.

Information about these issues and the forces that move them, is communicated to various sectors through media, and various studies have already been conducted on communication between or among sectors on various topics from SRI (socially responsible investing) to climate change. However, what is needed is a report focusing on the social responsibility of the media content and platforms themselves. This lack of market intelligence on the perception, understanding, and usage of media & communications content and services that are geared toward social responsibility has driven LUCITA to design and conduct this proprietary research.

    Selection Process
Respondents are qualified based on their activity or involvement in some aspect of social responsibility—either by their direct activities, community involvement, or other aspects of their operations.

    Status of Responses to Date
At the time of this press release, LUCITA has received responses from over 30 major corporations, SMEs, and non profit organizations throughout the US and the UK.

    Transparency
This independent study is funded solely by LUCITÀ and is not affiliated with any political, special interest, industry, religious or other agendas.

    Publication and Distribution
The findings will be presented to various high level bodies including the UN Global Compact, appropriate media outlets, and other entities of relevance. The report is slated to be published mid- to late 2004.

An executive summary will be sent at no charge to all responding entities as a thank-you gesture for participating in the study.

    Deadline
LUCITÀ is accepting responses on a rolling deadline basis (responses are entered at the end of every month). The cut-off date for all responses is May 31, 2004.

    Pre-Order List
LUCITÀ will not begin accepting orders until a definitive date for the report publication is announced. Those entities interested in purchasing the report should contact Birgitte Rasine, producer, at info@lucita.net and indicate their preliminary interest. LUCITÀ will send out periodic updates as to the progress of the study to all interested parties.
