BURLINGTON, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2006--100 student leaders from around the nation gathered at Capitol Hill today in hopes of encouraging Congress to take immediate steps to stop global warming. The students are taking part in Change It 06', a week of grassroots activism training led by Greenpeace, an international environmental group and Seventh Generation, the company known for its eco-friendly laundry detergent and recycled paper products.

In a dramatic physical display, the students formed a 30' giant human arrow with their bodies pointing to the Capitol while wearing identical t-shirts. In front of the students two large banners spelled out "Global Warming Starts Here" and "Global Warming Can Stop Here". After the event, students walked into the House of Representatives and delivered a letter to each of their representatives outlining their concerns about how global warming will affect their community locally and what they hope Congress will do about it.

"We students have been working hard on our campuses to take on the challenge of global warming. But we need leaders in Washington to take up the issue! It's time for change on a national level," said May Boeve, a student at Middlebury College.
