MONTREAL - August 23, 2007 - NATIONAL Public Relations is proud to announce the presence of Mr. Michael Stopford, Group Director, Corporate Reputation, Worldwide Public Affairs and Communications for Coca-Cola, at Tremblant Forum 07 held on September 19 and 20. Arriving from Atlanta, he will explain how his company has managed to position itself as one of the most highly-respected in the world.

In fact, Coca-Cola was ranked no. 1 for the 7th consecutive year in the Interbrand ranking of the Best Global Brands recently published in Business Week. Its brand value is estimated at $65 billion, a testament to the company's ability to successfully manage the economic value of its intangible assets like brand and reputation.

Particularly relevant for communications and public affairs professionals, the theme of this fourth edition of the Tremblant Forum on corporate responsibility and sustainability is Responsible communications for a sustainable reputation.

Renowned speakers from around the world

Over the years, Mr. Stopford has acquired a wide range of experience in the field of social responsibility which he developed while working for companies such as Syngenta, Exxon Mobil, the World Bank and the United Nations, among others. "The companies which succeed best with regards to sustainable development are those that ensure social responsibility is based on the activities of the company and reflect its fundamental values," Mr. Stopford affirmed. "Although communications cannot replace tangible results, they facilitate the establishment of dialogue with primary stakeholders. The key to success rests on credibility, the core of one's reputation, and communications must maintain and protect this."

This year other world famous lecturers will share their expertise and experiences in social responsibility with the 140 participants at the Tremblant Forum. In addition to Mr. Stopford, the event will host, among others, Susanne Stormer of Novo Nordisk, Steven Guilbeault of Greenpeace, Daniel Gagnier of the International Institute for Sustainable Development and Yves-Thomas Dorval of Imperial Tobacco.

A special event

For the first time, the Tremblant Forum will offer a special event for participants on the evening of September 19. Mr. Jeffrey Simpson, National Affairs Columnist for The Globe & Mail, will launch his new book on climate change, Hot Air: Meeting Canada's Climate Change Challenge, at the opening cocktail reception.

The Tremblant Forum on corporate responsibility and sustainability organized by NATIONAL Public Relations has become one of the most important events in Canada for the exchange of ideas on some of the greatest challenges and opportunities facing businesses, governments and members of civil society.

A sustainable event

The Tremblant Forum is once again partnering with Planetair to compensate for greenhouse gas emissions (GES) generated by the conference. Planetair is the only programme of its kind in Quebec certified by the "Gold Standard" international emissions compensation standard and audited by an independent third party. Moreover, a comprehensive sustainability plan was developed for the management of this event. It includes, among other elements, transportation of participants to Mont-Tremblant in a bio-diesel bus; the use of 100% post-consumer recycled and FSC-certified Rolland Enviro100 paper from Cascades for the event programme; and collaboration with the non-profit organization Les Petites Mains, whose mission is to support the social rehabilitation of women in Montreal, for the design of the participants' bags.
