To create these work-of-art ducks, artisans hand carve a reclaimed bamboo root following its natural shape, so no two are exactly alike. Once roots die, hundreds of them are usually burned, creating thick clouds of smoke, however this new artistic use has helped prevent the previously caused air pollution.
The head, neck and feet, which are made of reclaimed teakwood, are then attached to the bamboo body. Acrylic paint is applied and antiqued, and a nametag, featuring unusual as well as traditional names, adorns each duck, adding to its uniqueness.
