At the post regatta party, Dr Bank congratulated his fellow competitors and lauded their efforts in raising $43,547 for Kids Set Sail. "Next year, we should double the number of entries, and do even more for Kids Set Sail."
Group Experiential Learning (GEL) and J World Annapolis, hosted the 2004 B.I.G. Team Regatta to raise funds for the National Maritime Heritage Foundation's Kids Set Sail program, designed to engage and teach sailing to youth in the Washington, D.C. area and focus them on higher education.
The National Maritime Heritage Foundation (NMHF), based in Washington, D.C., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to stimulating economic and cultural community development along the waterfront of our nation's capital while bringing a fresh approach to maritime education. NMHF's programs include the Community Sailing Center, which features the Kids Set Sail sailing school.
J World, an Annapolis sailing school, and GEL, a nation-wide provider of sail-boat based team building experiences, are the organizing sponsors of this charity regatta. In addition to running America's premier sailing school, J World has been delivering team building events in Annapolis since 1996. J World partnered with GEL, the leaders in experiential organizational development, to enhance and expand its sailboat-based offerings. The focus of GEL Experiences is not simply learning to sail, but developing and enhancing the communication and situational leadership skills required to succeed in today's complex business environment.
