PORTLAND, Ore. - OIA Global Logistics, a leading logistics provider and supply chain management company and part of the privately-held Yoshida Group, was recently awarded the highest designation for a minority supplier by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) - the coveted National Corporate Plus® designation.

The recognition came from a sponsorship by Nike, a company OIA Global Logistics has worked with for over 10 years, providing a full scope of logistics and supply chain services for the sports and fitness company.

"Congratulations to OIA Global Logistics on receiving the Corporate Plus distinction. Nike has done business with OIA Global Logistics for more than a dozen years. Through Nike's Supplier Diversity program, our objective is to increase the percentage of supplier relations with companies owned by minorities, women and the disabled. Both Nike and OIA Global Logistics realize that business success requires a sustained commitment to corporate responsibility and diversity," said John Isbell, Director, Nike Corporate Delivery Logistics.

Corporate Plus® is an unprecedented membership program of the National Minority Supplier Development Council for the highest caliber minority business enterprises which have the proven capacity to handle national contracts for major corporations. It is designed to recognize their national capabilities, bring them to the attention of all National Corporate Members, and expand their participation in the NMSDC Network. The success of this program will raise the level and perception of minority businesses to national prominence in corporate America.

"We are delighted that OIA Global Logistics has become a National Corporate Plus Member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) through the recommendation of Nike, Inc.," said Harriet R. Michel, President, National Minority Supplier Development Council. "The increased participation of OIA Global Logistics and other outstanding national minority businesses in the NMSDC Network is a source of great pride and encouragement for all of us."

OIA Global Logistics is only the 3rd Corporate Plus member in the Northwest region. There are 69 certified Corporate Plus members nationwide.

"I am so excited that OIA Global Logistics is recognized by the NMSDC as such a high-quality service provider. It is a tremendous achievement of our people," said Junki Yoshida, CEO of OIA Global Logistics and Chairman of the Yoshida Group. "And I want to publicly thank Hans for the sponsorship and Nike for giving us the opportunity so long ago. Their leadership and guidance have since allowed us to grow into a major third-party logistics provider."

Johannes H. R. (Hans) van Alebeek, Nike's Vice President of Global Operations and Technology, was instrumental in getting OIA this recognition, and OIA thanks him for his generous support.
