"ISO certification confirms our commitment to responsible handling of unwanted electronic components," said John Koskinas, president of Metech. "We have always held ourselves to high standards of quality control and environmental responsibility, but ISO certification gives us a formal, globally recognized framework to tie everything together and plot continuous improvement. Our employees have embraced the ISO processes, and it is a credit to all of them that after three years this recertification audit found only a few minor areas in need of modification."
ISO 9001:2000 is an internationally recognized standard covering implementation of a quality management system, while ISO 14001 offers a structured Environmental Management System (EMS). Metech was first certified to these standards in August 2001. In order to maintain certification, the company undergoes surveillance audits every 6 months, in addition to a recertification audit every 3 years. The purpose of these audits is to confirm continued compliance to standards and procedures. These audits are conducted by BVQI, an independent certification company, and are a thorough review of all procedures and processes to confirm compliance and pinpoint areas in need of improvement.
