Trevor Rowe, North America spokesman for the World Food Program, www.wfp.org, stated, "The most important result of Karma Media's generous decision to assist the World Food Program will be to help the truly needy victims of the Asian tsunami. We hope this in turn will lead to increased donations, as well as continued public support to assist the hungry of the world. Via 'Estelle's Paradise,' more people will be aware of the ongoing needs of the victims as they try to rebuild their lives after one of the worst natural disasters in recent memory."
Karma Media controls approximately four minutes of commercial airtime per each half-hour episode of "Estelle's Paradise." Under the preferred media provider agreement, which commenced January 6 with the World Food Program, the initial value of air-time dedicated to this crucial outreach program is equal to or greater than $50,000 per month. During the initial awareness campaign, dedicated to the Asian tsunami disaster, Karma Media shall allocate no less than $250,000 of commercial broadcast television spots across its network of broadcasters.
Estelle Reyna, Chairperson of Karma Media and host of "Estelle's Paradise," urges her millions of viewers around the world to look for the new public service announcements. "The Southeast Asian tsunami was an unprecedented catastrophe witnessed by the entire world, affecting millions of lives. It has also brought out the best in people; charities, governments, private citizens and the United Nations all working together, regardless of differences, to help make life better for fellow human beings. This is social responsibility in its purest form, and at the core of Karma Media's mission. We're extremely proud to be able to be an additional resource for the World Food Program and its continual worldwide relief efforts."
Karma Media's CEO, Dominique Einhorn, added "Without debate or question, we immediately responded to the UN's need for air time and ran public service announcements to our viewers. The loyal and diverse audience for 'Estelle's Paradise' has continually proven their concern for all living things throughout the world by supporting our charitable partners and advertisers. We know many of them have already responded in their own way to help tsunami victims, and we're confident they will continue to respond to calls for help when disaster strikes."
