Minneapolis, MN, USA - June 17, 2008 - The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) announced today that Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley will address the 7th Annual Compliance & Ethics Institute, being held from September 14-17, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Chicago, IL.

Because government entities are increasingly faced with the need to implement ethics and compliance programs, this year's program includes a one-day track devoted specifically to compliance and ethics issues faced by city and county governments. Mayor Daley will discuss the significant efforts underway in the City of Chicago to develop an effective ethics and compliance program.

The 7th Annual Compliance and Ethics Institute program is designed to provide compliance and ethics professionals with timely and critical information they need to succeed. This year's conference includes more than 80 speakers and 50 sessions, which will provide practical advice and important insights from highly-regarded compliance and ethics practitioners, government enforcement agents, and legal and academic leaders.

The 2008 Compliance and Ethics Institute features speakers from global leaders and advisors including Ernst & Young , ELI, LRN, Integrity Interactive, Ethics Resource Center, Huron Consulting, and Global Compliance, plus heads of compliance, ethics and legal services from the following companies:

    Apart from the 2-day conference, there will be both pre- and post-conference workshops. Sunday, September 14, 2008 pre-conferences sessions cover Risk Assessments, Compliance 101, Measuring Program Effectiveness, Managing FCPA Issues in Global Organizations, Introduction to Compliance for Cities and Municipalities, Optimizing Your Code of Conduct, and Conducting Internal Investigations.

    Wednesday, September 17, 2008 post-conferences workshops include: Ethics Officers Roundtable, Auditing & Monitoring, Education, and Program Assessment: Developing Meaningful Ethics and Compliance Data to Demonstrate the Effectiveness of Your Program.

    General Sessions Topics

    Corporate Culture is the theme for the general sessions. Monday's panel discussion - The Government Perspective on Corporate Culture, with Moderator Odell Guyton, Microsoft Corporation’s Director of Compliance - offers U.S. Government enforcement representatives' perspective on corporate culture. Tuesday's panel discussion - Shaping Corporate Culture, Moderator Marjorie Doyle, Practice Leader, Ethics and Compliance Solutions, LRN - offers company leaders and ethicists' perspective on how to shape corporate culture within an organization.

    Following Tuesday's panel discussion, Cynthia Cooper, CFE, CISA, CPA (State of GA), former WorldCom Chief Audit Executive and author of Extraordinary Circumstances - The Journey of a Corporate Whistleblower, will share her team's experience in uncovering the largest fraud in corporate history.
