TARRYTOWN,NY, - July 3, 2008 - Silver Tips Tea Room announced today that it is offsetting its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, one of the country's leading carbon offset organizations, the latest in a series of environmentally-friendly steps the Tarrytown, New York-based tea company has taken.

Silver Tips has purposefully and consciously sourced eco-friendly materials at its tearoom, and it keeps its take-out and disposable materials to a minimum. No bottled water is served at the tearoom, and reusable dishware has been in use since the tearoom opened in 1999. Recently, Silver Tips opted for 100% Green Power, a combination of wind and low-impact hydro-energy. The tearoom has also fully converted to energy-efficient lights and has made changes in numerous other areas, including the use of compostable take-out cups and glasses and recycled bags.

Silver Tips' wholesale arm, Eco-Prima Tea, in Buchanan, NY, uses recycled cartons and packaging material, including biodegradable packing peanuts. Eco-Prima seeks out green printers and, whenever possible, prints on post-consumer recycled paper with soy ink.

Silver Tips/Eco-Prima's new partnership with Carbonfund.org continues this commitment to the environment by offsetting the carbon impact that the companies cannot reduce. This commitment establishes Eco-Prima Tea and Silver Tips Tea Room as environmental leaders in the tea community and demonstrates the proactive steps each is taking in the fight against global climate change.

Customers of both Eco-Prima and Silver Tips Tea are very concerned about global warming. Eco-Prima Tea has been focused on sustainability from its inception in 1995 and has been a leader in providing certified Organic and Fair Trade teas to its numerous wholesale customers. Silver Tips educates its customers individually and through its website.

Eco-Prima/Silver Tips Tea chose Carbonfund.org over other organizations doing work in similar areas because of its excellent reputation in the industry, and because Carbonfund.org provided several choices for offsetting their carbon. Carbonfund.org also provided an easy and efficient way to generate publicity for this important cause while highlighting their specific participation through individual web pages, logos, and continued advice and recommendations on how to further this cause.

"We've always been interested in organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices," said Anupa Mueller, President of Eco-Prima and Silver Tips Tea. "Silver Tips and Eco-Prima Teas engage in many simple steps that companies and individuals can pursue to fight global climate change. We can all do something "“ simply recycling, using tap or filter water instead of bottled water, buying organic, and being aware of the consequences of the food we choose to eat can make a difference in the battle for sustainability. Climate change affects everybody, and it is everybody's responsibility to lend a hand to combat this global issue. As a company with a platform to encourage our customers to join in, we feel compelled to try to do more. We ask our customers to go green with us and with Carbonfund.org."

"Drinking tea connects people to the earth in the most delicious of ways," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "With this partnership, Silver Tips and Eco-Prima Teas further their commitment to making their products not just delicious but eco-friendly. We're thrilled to welcome them onboard."

Eco-Prima Tea, a wholesale tea company is certified Organic and Fair Trade, carries over 300 teas and helps others grow their tea business.
