CINCINNATI,OHIO,. - June 19, 2008 - Cadence Network Inc. today announced its support of the inaugural Green 4 Retail (G4R) conference through the purchase of carbon offsets from Carbonfund.org, the country's leading carbon offset organization. Cadence will offset the travel related carbon emissions of all 130 attendees of the June 18-19 event, which is being held at Chain Store Age magazine in Chicago, IL.
G4R is the first conference specifically focused on the implementation of green initiatives in store design, construction and facilities management. This commitment positions Cadence Network as an environmental leader in the expense and energy management community and demonstrates proactive steps in the fight against global climate change.
Conference attendees include executives leading the retail industry's green initiatives, along with Cadence's own Rick Sievertsen, Vice President of Business Development. Sievertsen will moderate a panel called "Energy Use: Going Beyond the Low-Hanging Fruit," scheduled for June 19 from 1:15 "“ 2:00 pm.
Considering the implications of climate change, carbon offsets through Carbonfund.org are a natural extension of the work Cadence Network Inc., does on behalf of its stakeholders. "Cadence Network has focused a significant amount of time and energy on developing a suite of sustainable solutions that will help businesses move forward with their sustainability initiatives," says Jeff Hart, President of Cadence. "We're happy to partner with Carbonfund.org to support other organizations with similar goals and objectives and help bring multi-site businesses the latest information on sustainability and green practices."
Cadence launched Greenfoot(SM), the renewable energy procurement and carbon footprint tracking and reporting side of its energy management business, in 2007. Cadence continues to establish itself as an authority on carbon management with its support of sustainability education for leaders in business.
"The nature of what Cadence does-helping companies manage their carbon footprints-means it is especially important that they be seen as a leader in taking environmental responsibility," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "Offsetting travel-related emissions for their inaugural Green 4 Retail conference sends that kind of leadership signal, showing that Cadence is following through on its commitment."
