SAN FRANCISCO, CA - May 28, 2008 -
Sweet, a new lesbian travel company, announced today that it is offsetting its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, one of the country's leading carbon offset organizations. As a CarbonFree(TM) Business Partner, Sweet is offsetting the carbon emissions from its business operations, as well as emissions from employee air travel.
Sweet's mission is to provide fun-filled, eco-friendly, volunteer-oriented and empowering lesbian travel experiences. A Sweet vacation is intended to empower and motivate guests to achieve their personal, professional and philanthropic goals. Travel itineraries will include volunteer programs that provide aid to under-served communities and fund-raising activities that support non-profit groups around the world.
"Responsible travel, such as evaluating the implications of travel on climate change, is a high priority for Sweet," said Founder and CEO Shannon Wentworth. "Partnering with Carbonfund.org to offset the carbon footprint from our first itinerary, a Caribbean cruise, is a natural extension of this commitment. We're really thrilled to be working with Carbonfund.org."
"By promoting humanitarian work and demonstrating environmental concern, Sweet is changing the travel industry and how people decide to spend their vacation," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "We're proud to help Sweet go CarbonFree."
