VICTOR, NY - September 12, 2007 - Sports Specialists Limited (SSL), a leading retailer-owned specialty buying group for the snow sports, action sports, outdoor, and casual outdoor furniture industries, announced today that it has successfully become a 100% carbon free corporation through its partnership with Carbonfund.org, the country's leading carbon reduction and offset organization.
"As an organization whose very existence is dependent on the good fortune of Mother Nature, we felt it imperative to address our impact on the environment," said Whit Sobey, SSL Hardgoods Merchandise Manager.
In June, 2007, SSL unveiled its Environmental Impact Reduction Strategy to its Board of Directors and member retailers. Those initiatives included:
