NEW YORK, NY - July 26, 2007 - Continuing its role as a trusted partner to GE on environmental business strategy, GreenOrder has worked closely with GE to create and launch its Earth Rewards(R) Platinum MasterCard(R), the first US credit card dedicated to reducing cardholders' carbon emissions through some of the world's most trustworthy and reliable greenhouse gas emission offsets.
The card allows users to reduce their carbon footprint by automatically contributing up to one percent of their purchases to buy GHG emissions offsets. A typical consumer could earn enough rewards in a year to offset a significant portion of their likely direct annual GHG emissions. For more information about the card, see www.MyEarthRewards.com.
"GreenOrder was a valuable partner and important independent voice on the development of the Earth Rewards card, as they have been with almost every aspect of ecomagination since its inception," said Lorraine Bolsinger, GE's Vice President for ecomagination.
Since mid-2004, GreenOrder, a sustainability strategy and marketing firm based in New York, has helped GE to develop and implement its award-winning ecomagination initiative. The firm has provided independent verification for more than 45 ecomagination products and services, which had revenues of $12 billion in 2006 - with orders and commitments exceeding $50 billion.
GreenOrder has also helped GE to identify new market opportunities and to create innovative offerings in response. Earth Rewards is the newest such product and the first ecomagination offering from GE's consumer finance business, GE Money. From inception to product launch, GreenOrder advised GE in a number of ways, including:
"GreenOrder helps companies to make environmental progress profitable," said Shapiro. "For three years, we have been fortunate to work with GE to make Jeff Immelt's 'green is green' philosophy a reality. The Earth Rewards card is another great example of how ecomagination has become a catalyst for GE businesses to innovate and create valuable new offerings."
"While there are no simple solutions to climate change, Earth Rewards gives consumers a convenient carbon-offset tool backed up by credible GHG emission reductions," added Nicholas Eisenberger, GreenOrder's Managing Principal. "It's a great complement to other critically important steps we should all take including conserving natural resources and using greener energy and transportation."
