WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/14/08 -- United Way, the nation's largest nonprofit, and CreateHope, Inc. today announced the formation of Truist. The new for-profit company directly addresses market demand for an integrated, strategic approach to philanthropy management, supportive of the full supply chain of giving -- from donor to recipient. The combined company's solution suite, used by over 1,000 customers across more than 50 countries, represents a cumulative 3,000 programs, 1 million volunteers and $2.5 billion in charitable contributions.
"This is a dynamic and exciting time in the field of global philanthropy," said Truist CEO Bob Meagher. "The impacts of demographic change and technology have resulted in market demand for integration and automation of the philanthropic supply chain.
Whether for an individual donor, a corporation or a nonprofit organization, there's a real need for connection -- to information, resources and results. By virtue of its legacy of expertise in serving each constituency, Truist has the unique opportunity to optimize the logistics of giving."
Truist, with offices in New York City and Washington, D.C., is uniquely positioned to power the planning, tracking and management of global employee and community involvement initiatives. The company combines the product suites and professionals of United eWay and CreateHope Inc., and infuses Truist with the capital, talent, relationships and reach to build on the accomplishments of its predecessors.
Truist products and services will continue to serve as the national United Way solutions. "Truist gives United Way the capability to expand and strengthen the online solutions we've provided donors and companies since United eWay was created. Truist will build on the expertise of both United eWay and CreateHope and enable us to provide even more valuable services to all sectors and local communities around the globe," said Brian Gallagher, president and CEO of United Way, which will be the largest shareholder in the company.
The new company results from a sale of assets from United Way's subsidiary, United eWay, to CreateHope, Inc. "This transaction brings together two of the most recognized, respected players in the philanthropic market," said Michael Korengold, President of Enhanced Capital Partners, a key shareholder in the new company. "Truist, through the combination of the legacy companies' complementary solutions, immediately brings an incredibly robust, mature offering to the market. Perhaps more importantly, the combination gives the new company the critical mass -- the size, strength and financial backing -- to be a true innovator. Truist is uniquely positioned to change the dynamics of worldwide giving."
