Qwest Demonstrates the 'Spirit of Service' with $61,000 Donation to United Way of Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2007--Qwest employees and the Qwest Foundation have joined forces and shown their Spirit of Service in Utah by pledging more than $61,000 to United Way of Salt Lake, the company announced today.

The $61,330 donation is part of $199,633 in donations to seven United Way organizations around Utah.

"I'm so proud of the company, our great employees and the Qwest Foundation," said Jerry Fenn, Qwest president for Utah. "United Way does such great things for our communities, and we are pleased that Qwest is furthering its work in promoting education and other worthwhile efforts. I am especially proud that the bulk of these donations are coming directly from employees."

Jason Castor, client relations director, United Way of Salt Lake, said, "We are grateful for our partnership with Qwest. The increased support for United Way of Salt Lake is a direct result of Jerry Fenn's leadership and the generosity and support from Qwest employees. It's partnerships like this that enables us to collectively make a difference in our community."

The donations come from Qwest employees and the Qwest Foundation, which provides an additional 75 cents for every dollar donated by employees. In Utah, the employee gift is more than $116,800, and the matching Qwest Foundation grant is more than $82,800.
