BISMARCK, N.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2007--The Qwest Foundation today announced an award of more than $3,000 to a Roosevelt Elementary School teacher who shows innovation in the classroom. Susan Biesiot, an elementary teacher at Dickinson Public Schools, applied for the grant through the Qwest Foundation to purchase interactive white boards for her kindergarten and first-grade classrooms.

"This grant provides a unique opportunity for Qwest to make a difference in the lives of North Dakota students," said Scott Macintosh, Qwest state president for North Dakota. "Susan Biesiot is an impressive educator who has shown creative ways to use technology to help students learn."

"I can't wait to read a story and watch the children looking at a large screen to see the pictures," said Biesiot. "Thanks to Qwest, Roosevelt Elementary School and my classroom are equipped with technology to benefit elementary students in Dickinson."

The purpose of the Qwest Foundation grants is to provide funding for creative educational programs or projects, and to recognize North Dakota K through grade 12 public school teachers who use technology in the classroom in new and innovative ways to improve student performance.
