SAN FRANCISCO, CA - April 30, 2007 - As part of its long-standing commitment to community involvement, the Levi's® brand will recognize May 1 as "501® Day," a day to encourage people everywhere to get involved in their communities by volunteering. In New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco employees of Levi's® Stores are inviting consumers to volunteer with them at events in each city.
"Community involvement has been part of the brand's cultural heritage since the earliest days of Levi Strauss & Co.," said Robert Hanson, President of Levi Strauss & Co., North America. "Volunteering is a year-round activity with employees contributing more than 60,000 hours of service globally each year in 66 Community Involvement Teams around the world. This year we're asking the public, and people who wear and love our brand to join us on May 1, affectionately known as "501® Day" to help make our communities stronger. Everyone has something unique to contribute, and this campaign is about celebrating what we can achieve together."
"501® Day" is a day to encourage volunteerism across the country. On that day, the majority of employees from Levi Strauss & Co. headquarters and offices across the country will be volunteering with community organizations.
All information about the volunteer opportunities for May 1 is posted on www.levi.com/501day.
