The National Capital Business Ethics Award -- now in its fifth year -- is presented by the Greater Washington and Northern Virginia Chapters of the Society of Financial Service Professionals in partnership with George Mason University. It recognizes businesses outside of the financial services industry that exemplify "a strong commitment to business excellence and to the highest standards of civic and social responsibility, integrity and ethical conduct." Nominated companies undergo a comprehensive screening process, with winners being selected by a highly respected panel of independent judges. This year's judges included the Chairman of the Board of the Ethics Resource Center, and two corporate presidents.
Robert Acosta, CEO of Ventera, said, "This award is a real honor for all of Ventera's employees because it reflects how every one of us strives to conduct our business -- trying to do the right thing, trusting each other to make good decisions, openly communicating the truth, and being courageous enough to admit our mistakes. We are extremely honored by this award."
