FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2006--First Command Educational Foundation has been accepted for inclusion in the 2006 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) National List, paving the way for receiving charitable gifts from employees of the federal government.

The CFC is a program permitting selected charitable groups to ask for donations from federal employees, who participate through automatic payroll deduction. The foundation was notified this month that it will appear in each of the CFC's local campaign brochures under the listing of "National/International Organizations." The CFC identification number 1153 will be used by donors to designate their contribution to First Command Educational Foundation.

According to the CFC's Web site, nearly four million federal employees and military personnel are able to contribute to the charities of their choice during the annual charity drive, which runs from September 1 through December 15. Established in 1961, it is the largest workplace charity campaign in the country and the only campaign authorized to solicit and collect contributions from federal employees in the workplace.

"We are ecstatic to be chosen to participate in this well-known program and look forward to helping even more Americans pursue their educational goals," said Vickie Mauldin, foundation executive director.

First Command Educational Foundation is an independent, non-profit entity dedicated to significantly improving the short- and long-term personal financial success of U.S. military members through scholarships, educational programs, and financial presentations. Last year the foundation awarded more than $176,000 in scholarships to college-bound high school students and selected ROTC cadets. It has awarded more than $3.3 million since it was founded in 1983. This year the target audience for the foundation's programs has expanded to include civilians as well as military families.
