RYE, NY. - October 7, 2008 "“ Fundraising "thons" raise billions each year, but public recognition for the nonprofit professionals who produce them has been in short supply "“ until now.

Outstanding achievement in athletic event fundraising is the focus of a new competition organized by the Run Walk Ride Fundraising Council. The Run Walk Ride Pacesetter Awards will be presented at the council's annual conference in Dallas on March 5, 2009.

Events conducted in 2008 can be entered in six competitive categories:
