June 28, 2007- Mr. Carlos Condstandse, one of the founding partners of Xcaret, Xel-Ha and the Via Delphi Group, accepted in representation of the three companies an honorable mention for their participation in the development of science and the conservation of natural resources in the State of Quintana Roo. The Honorable Mention is granted through the state's 2006 Science, Technology and Innovation Awards Program. The tribute was delivered by Governor Felix Gonzalez Canto during a ceremony at the State Congress in Chetumal.

All three companies, Xcaret, Xel-Ha and Via Delphi, were nominated for this award by the Universidad del Caribe in recognition of their efforts in support of environmental conservation in general; but especially in recognition of their sea turtle protection program and valuable research on green turtles Chelonia mydas performed by Xcaret. The award is also in appreciation of their continued support for the monitoring of giant conch, Strombus gigas, and their financing of the supervision of subterranean waters in the cove and surrounding areas. The third member of the group, Via Delphi, is highly regarded in the scientific community for their contributions to the study of reproductive activities of bottle nose dolphins, Tursiops truncatus, in its natural environment, as well as keeping tabs on their numbers and distribution within the Ria Lagartos biosphere in Yucatán, and monitoring the species in Campeche's Laguna de Terminos.

The event was witnessed by Governor Felix Gonzalez Canto and the Managing Director of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT-by its Spanish acronym), Juan Carlos Romero Hicks along with numerous other private sector and government personalities.

While receiving the award, Mr. Carlos Condstandse commented "It is truly an honor to be a participant and partner in these three companies, to be a part of the environmental conservation work being carried out for our State and for Mexico."
