LOS ANGELES--The Children's Health Environmental Coalition (CHEC), a nationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about environmental toxins that can affect children's health, along with the support of celebrity moms Laura Dern and Amy Brenneman, will kick off the Blue Butterfly Campaign this May, with the shared goal of encouraging millions of people to join the fight for a healthier world for children.

The Blue Butterfly Campaign is an initiative to help spread the word about the 5 Easy Steps to a Healthier Home that everyone can easily follow to create a cleaner, healthier environment for their children. Participants can access this information and enroll as Blue Butterfly members at www.bluebutterfly.org. Members can also enter into a web-only promotion featuring weekly product giveaways, including a $45,000 black diamond necklace from Mimi So jewelers that will be awarded as the grand prize in July.

"I am so honored to be part of the Children's Health Environmental Coalition and am eager to get the word out about the simple steps people can take in their homes to get on the path to a healthier future," said Laura Dern. "As a mother, and as an individual wanting a safer and cleaner environment to raise my children in, it was an easy choice for me to get involved with the efforts of CHEC. I look forward to raising awareness for The Blue Butterfly Campaign--for the sake of all our children."

Blue Butterfly members can also access comprehensive information about healthy living tips, information about healthy home products and alternatives, and obtain special discounts on environmentally friendly products. Business partners include Seventh Generation, Organic Valley, NaturePedic, gDiapers, LUNA, Perfect Organics, Sprout Foods, Q junior Collection, Santo's Battle, Earthbound Farm, Green Nest, Environment Furniture, The Blue Butterfly Movie, Mimi So Jewelry, Coach and Greenhome.com.

The 5 Easy Steps to a Healthier Home are:

  • Avoid use of pesticides and insecticides

We educate parents, support protective policies, and engage communities to make responsible decisions, simple everyday choices, and well-informed lifestyle improvements to create healthy environments where children and families can flourish. Healthy Child Healthy World exists because over 125 million of America's children now face an historically unprecedented rise in chronic disease and illness such as cancer, autism, asthma, birth defects, ADD / ADHD, and learning and developmental disabilities. Credible scientific evidence increasingly points to environmental hazards and household chemicals as causing and contributing to many of these diseases. As a national leader for nearly two decades, Healthy Child Healthy World has become the nation's leading organization of its kind, and helps millions of parents, educators, health professionals, and the general public take action to create healthy environments and embrace green, non-toxic steps.
