SAN DIEGO - September 12, 2007 - On October 20, 2007, Newland Communities, the nation's largest community developer, will host its second annual Life is good(R) Pumpkin Festivals in 11 communities in seven states across the country. The Pumpkin Festivals are free to attend, giving thousands of families a fun-filled day featuring activities for all age groups, including pumpkin carving, games, live music, great food and more, all the while raising funds for charity. The first Pumpkin Festivals held in Newland communities took place in October 2006 and raised $400,000 for charities.

The national beneficiary of the 2007 Life is good Pumpkin Festivals is HomeAid, a leading national non-profit provider of housing for today's temporarily homeless. In addition, each of the communities holding festivals have selected a local charity to benefit from the event.

"Our relationship with Newland Communities and Life is good is such a natural fit given our mutual desire to build stronger communities where we work and live," said Genette Eaton, chief executive officer of HomeAid. "The pumpkin festivals and the funds that they raise will have a tremendous impact on serving the temporarily homeless population in each of the participating Newland communities, helping families and individuals in need get back on their feet."

Eleven Newland communities will host 2007 Life is good Pumpkin Festivals, including 4S Ranch (San Diego, Calif.), Whitney Ranch (Rocklin Calif.), Estrella (Goodyear, Ariz.), Cinco Ranch (Katy, Texas), Summerwood (Houston, Texas), Falcon Pointe (Pflugerville, Texas), Sterling on the Lake (Atlanta, Ga.), Clarksburg Town Center (Clarksburg, Md.), Ladysmith Village (Ladysmith, Va.), FishHawk Ranch (Tampa, Fla.) and MiraBay (Apollo Beach, Fla.).

"As a developer of residential communities from coast to coast, we are proud to have the majority of the funds raised at our 2007 Life is good Pumpkin Festivals benefit HomeAid. We wholeheartedly support HomeAid's efforts to help build dignified housing where temporarily homeless families and individuals can find shelter and rebuild their lives," said Newland Communities' CEO, LaDonna Monsees. "As well, our Pumpkin Festivals would not be possible without our alliance with Life is good. We are very proud to be affiliated with Life is good for this charitable, worthwhile event."

The alliance between Life is good, an apparel company that spreads good vibes through its colorful collection of clothing and accessories, and Newland Communities, one of the nation’s leading developers of residential communities, gives both companies an expanded way to reach out and give back to communities across the country. At each of the Pumpkin Festivals, funds are raised through the sale of specially designed Life is good Pumpkin Festival tee shirts, merchandise and donations.

"Good communities rally around great events and great causes," said Bert Jacobs, Life is good co-founder and chief executive optimist. "Through our alliance with Newland Communities, both companies have an incredible opportunity to make a real difference. On October 20th, we will share a message of optimism with an expanded audience and raise major funds for children and families who need a helping hand."
