Madison, WI - December 23, 2008 - Leonardo Academy, a charitable non-profit focused on advancing sustainability, announced today the launch of its World Green Web Community. The World Green Web Community provides an opportunity for networking and sharing information on sustainability and green practices. In addition, the Obama World Green buttons, a popular item at the U.S. Green Building Council's Greenbuild 2008 conference, are available through the World Green Community web site (http://green.leonardoacademy.org. The button's message is simple: "Let's all help President Obama make the world green!"

Leonardo Academy’s World Green Web Community provides a place for companies, organizations, government, families and individuals to tell their sustainability stories. All of our sustainability actions add up, and participating in the World Green Web Community by documenting our ongoing progress is one way to "Help President Obama Make the World Green."

Leonardo Academy also announced today the opportunity to participate in its 2008 Corporate and Organization Sustainability Survey. The purpose of the survey is to assess the status of sustainability awareness and implementation among companies, organizations and government entities. The survey covers the full scope of sustainability from emissions footprints and LEED(R) implementation to supply chains and social equity. All companies, organizations and government entities are invited to fill out the survey and tell their sustainability story. Multiple responses from the same company or organization will be averaged in the analysis of the results. To fill out the 2008 survey, please go to the World Green Community web page. Responses will be accepted through January 30, 2009.

Results of the 2007 Leonardo Academy Sustainability Survey are available on the World Green Community webpage. Last year's survey showed that companies and organizations are making more concerted efforts to incorporate sustainability into their practices. Over 40% of responding companies had a sustainability plan in place, and nearly 30% more were in the process of developing a sustainability plan. Only 7.5% of the responding companies and organizations had no plan to implement sustainability strategies into their business practices. The 2007 results further indicated that a growing number of companies and organizations are becoming more actively engaged in supply chain sustainability. For example, a growing number of buyers are asking about their suppliers' sustainability achievements when making purchases. In addition, nearly 80% of the responding businesses and organizations revealed that their customers are inquiring about their sustainability achievements. The full downloadable report on the results from the 2007 Sustainability Survey is available at World Green web page and the Leonardo Academy web site (http://www.leonardoacademy.org/Resources/reports/index.htm).
