LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 18, 2007--Los Gatos becomes Solar City USA this Thursday, the longest day of the year, when Akeena Solar opens its new headquarters and showroom to the public.

Akeena, a leading designer and installer of solar power systems, will unveil solar-powered electric car-charging stations, the equivalent of gas stations dispensing solar energy instead of gasoline. Drivers of hybrids or electric cars are welcome to fill 'er up. The newest residential and commercial solar systems also will be on display.

"The summer solstice, the longest day of the year with 14 hours and 51 minutes of sunlight, seems the perfect day to celebrate solar energy--and our new headquarters, " said Barry Cinnamon, Akeena's president and CEO. "We hope that everyone in town will attend. We'll be serving refreshments--as well as solar energy for cars!"

Akeena, which had been based in two locations on University Avenue in Los Gatos, this week moved to the landmark Swanson Ford building at 16005 Los Gatos Blvd. The reception will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Los Gatos Council members Diane McNutt, Mike Wasserman and Steve Glickman will speak. Akeena is publicly traded under the symbol OTCBB: AKNS.
