This is the third new office the company has opened this year to accommodate the rapidly growing demand for solar power from both residential and commercial customers. Akeena now has five offices serving California and one in the Northeast.

Pending federal legislation is likely to drive further growth. The proposed Securing America's Energy Independence Act proposes increasing Federal tax credits to $3,000 per kilowatt. For example, under the proposed Act, a typical five kilowatt residential system would now experience a tax credit increase from $2,000 to $15,000, thereby reducing payback from 10 years to five years. Akeena believes should this Act be passed into law, it would create a significant increase in demand for solar power systems.
