BRIGHTON, CO - September 24, 2007 - Murray Maze, one of the largest corn maze and agri-tainment sites in Colorado, will host an event featuring #78 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver Joe Nemechek to benefit the Robert M. Shopneck Boys and Girls Club of Brighton.
On Monday, October 1, from 5pm-7pm Murray Maze, located at 11010 Havana Street in Brighton, will donate all proceeds from the admission to the corn maze and the haunted house tour to the new Brighton location of the Boys and Girls Club.
The donation will come as a welcome boost to the club that recently opened the Robert M. Shopneck building to service the needs of children in the Brighton community. The club features its own teen center, the first one in the metro area. The teen center is open extended hours on Friday evenings.
Patricia Murray of Murray Maze speaks regarding the event. "We feel it's very important to introduce children to agriculture. The maze provides us with a unique opportunity to both entertain and educate kids. To tie the maze in with an event to benefit the Boys and Girls Club is a win/win situation for everyone involved."
In order to heighten awareness of the maze and the event, Murray Maze adopted a NASCAR theme this year.
The fifteen-acre maze, created from four miles of trails is shaped as Colorado's NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Car #78. The driver of the #78, "Front Row" Joe Nemechek will be on hand to sign autographs and escort children from the Boys and Girls Club through the maze. In addition, the #78 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup show car, as well as Colorado National Speedway racecars sponsored by Furniture Row will be on display. Local Colorado National Speedway driver Darren Robertson will also be on hand to sign autographs.
Murray states, "My family and I are big racing fans, and I wanted to bring attention to the sport, Colorado National Speedway, and our local NASCAR Cup team."
The Boys and Girls Club is also enthusiastic about the racing tie in, and encourages families to come out and enjoy this unique event.
"We're excited that Furniture Row Racing and Mr. Nemechek are taking part in this event benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, Robert M. Shopneck Branch in Brighton. We invite race fans and our supporters to join us for what will be a terrific evening of fun to benefit the kids," says Kathy Luna, Chief Operating Officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

About the Boys and Girls Club of Denver:
The first club opened in 1961 in an old storage warehouse at 910 West 8th Avenue. Bill Cope, a Boys Club veteran who had started several Clubs in California, was brought in to get the Club up and running. It was far from luxurious, but boys immediately saw it as a good place to spend free time. With a budget of only $28,000 and just two full-time staff persons, the Club recruited more than 800 members in its first year.
Since then, the organization has grown to serve the needs of a rapidly growing community. Today, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver serve over 8-thousand kids with 7 metro area Clubs and remains focused on helping young people in the Denver metro area make the most of their lives, while looking ahead to how best meet the needs of our community's young people in the future.
