SAN FRANCISCO, CA. - July 15, 2008 - The 2008 National Renewable Energy Marketing Conference will take place Oct. 26-29 in Denver at the Marriott City Center. The renewable energy industry’s premiere conference of the year is sponsored by the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Registration is now open at www.renewableenergymarketing.net. The early bird special rate ends September 19, 2008.

The theme of the 2008 National Renewable Energy Marketing Conference is: A New Climate for Change. The conference is the industry’s biggest annual gathering attended by leading renewable energy and carbon market stakeholders. Attendees gather to listen to their peers present on the major issues facing the industry. Some of the key topics for this year's conference include:

  • The Interplay Between Climate-Change Policies and Renewable Energy Markets. How the voluntary and compliance REC markets interact with federal and state carbon policies.
  • Going Local: How Municipalities View Green Opportunities. There are many economic opportunities in sustainability, including jobs and industry. How are municipalities making the most of the new green economy?
  • Buyers' Issues and Case Studies. Companies are finding a strong business case for purchasing renewable energy. Hear from representatives at Intel, Toyota, REI and others about how green energy can deliver profits.
  • Innovations in Utility Marketing. Utility green-pricing programs are available to over half of U.S. residents. Join a panel discussion with seven of the biggest utilities in the country to hear how they are driving sales.
  • Media and Perception. Environmental policy and the green economy are fast-moving territories, and it takes clear, accurate messages that resonate with the press and public to break through the noise. Learn what works.
"We expect this year's conference to be the biggest ever," said Arthur O'Donnell, executive director of the Center for Resource Solutions, the nonprofit organization that is the conference organizer. "The renewable industry is experiencing tremendous growth in the U.S. at the same time it is intersecting with the emerging carbon market. Along with a new administration in Washington and exciting technological advancements, there will be much to learn about at the conference this year-no one should miss it."

Speakers include representatives from the Union of Concerned Scientists, the Business Council for Sustainable Energy, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); executives from leading renewable energy marketing companies and utilities; executives representing some of the nation’s largest corporate green power purchasers; and state and federal officials. Some of the key events taking place as part of the conference include the 2008 Green Power Leadership Awards ceremony and banquet, the popular pre-conference introductory workshop "Green Power 101," and a tour of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), which is based in Golden, Colo.
