WASHINGTON, D.C., January 18, 2007 "“ The deadline for nominations for the 2007 Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs is March 2, 2007. To make a nomination, go to http://www.pointsoflight.org/awards/workplace/nominate.cfm.
The Awards for Excellence are designed to honor a business' overall employee/retiree volunteer effort, including the actual community service projects and the program policies and corporate vision that support those volunteer activities. We invite your participation in nominating businesses that have exceptional workplace volunteer programs - self-nomination is permissible.
The 2007 Awards will be presented in front of thousands of nonprofit, business and public sector representatives at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Philadelphia, July 16 - 18, 2007. Convened by the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network and the Corporation for National and Community Service, this annual event brings together the nation’s top community leaders from business, nonprofit and government programs.
The Awards for Excellence in Workplace Volunteer Programs is one of the oldest and most prestigious awards programs honoring outstanding employee volunteer programs. Established in 1993 by the Points of Light Foundation in partnership with several major national businesses and nonprofit organizations, the Awards recognize businesses of all sizes and in all industries that meet the Principles of Excellence for Workplace Volunteering.
The program is designed to honor a company’s overall employee/retiree volunteer efforts. It acknowledges those businesses that have made workplace volunteering a central part of their business operations by putting structure, policies and procedures, and evaluation in place to allow employees to give back their time and talent to its communities.
The 2006 honorees were: Accenture, PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., The Timberland Company, UPS and Wells Fargo & Company.
