Disability/Diversity Corporate Consulting Services Launched by Ability Beyond Disability

BETHEL, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 2006--Comprehensive consulting services to enable corporations in New York and Connecticut better attract, hire and profitably integrate able people with a disability into their workforce are being launched today by Ability Beyond Disability, based in Bethel, CT, with a major center in Mount Kisco, NY.
"Our new Disability/Diversity Corporate Consulting Group has been created in response to requests by area corporations that want a more diverse workforce while meeting their staffing needs in a low unemployment-rate environment," says Joan Volpe, director of employment services.
"When Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals asked us, as part of its continuing workforce diversification program, to help its managers understand the opportunities hiring people with a disability offer the smart company -- we realized there was a real business need we could serve," she added.

Services of the new Disability/Diversity Corporate Consulting Group, which begin with a free consultation, will include:
-- Awareness-building presentations for managers
-- Job-posting assistance
-- Tips/help in identifying and interviewing able applicants with a disability
-- Information and assistance in any needed accommodations
-- Ongoing and as-needed assistance in integrating new employees with a disability as productive employees
-- As-needed coaching for employees on issues related to working with colleagues who have a disability
Managers with hands-on experience will provide one-on-one or group consulting sessions. Ability Beyond Disability consumers with a disability who are currently employed will also participate in the consulting program.
Ability Beyond Disability has been providing consulting services to area businesses who employ its consumers for several years, including such companies as Pepsi Bottling Group in Somers and Mount Kisco Truck & Auto.
