In an environment of diminishing corporate trust, how can we ensure voluntary disclosures give us real insight into performance on environmental, social & governance issues? The second CR Reporting Awards aims to identify and reward quality disclosure as a contribution to the raising of global standards.

LONDON. - October 22, 2008 - Voting starts today for the second CR Reporting Awards (CRRA'08), the only global annual awards for corporate responsibility (CR) reporting. From now until 20th January 2009, voting takes place online at http://www.corporateregister.com/crra and the winners will be announced in March 2009 at an invitation-only event and ceremony in London.

As in the initial programme in 2007 the voting jury consists of the online CR community - the users of the CR resources website CorporateRegister.com, whose numbers have grown to 23,500.

The CRRA'08 have been developed to identify and acknowledge the best CR reports across nine categories including Best Carbon Disclosure, Openness & Honesty and Best 1st Time Report. Now reporting stakeholders "“ the people who read and use these environmental, sustainability and CR reports "“ can participate in the Awards programme and even win their own prizes.

The background
Two thousand companies with reports published between September 2007 and October 2008 were invited to participate, and the first 120 entries accepted. In response to voter feedback from 2007, when the first 300 entries were accepted for participation, this year an important aspect has been to limit entry numbers across all nine categories to make judging easier for the online voters.

These reports can all be viewed at http://www.corporateregister.com/crra

The Way Forward
The first annual awards programme was a great success in 2007, with many of the world's largest companies participating. The 2008 round looks set to repeat this success, with a wide range of companies from famous multinationals to local SMEs competing across the categories.

Anyone can join the current 23,500 registered users and vote after a quick sign-up.

Voting closes on January 20th 2009, with winners announced in late March, and a comprehensive CRRA'08 report will be freely available from CorporateRegister.com
