DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2007--At a companywide meeting last week, each of the roughly 70 employees of InsureMe, an online lead service, took turns shaving the CEO's head.

After the last employee took a pass with the electric shears, one thing was evident: Tim McTavish, the founder and president of the Colorado-based business, now had a mohawk. Not a David Beckham-inspired faux-hawk, but one that Mr. T. would give his stamp of approval.

McTavish then offered his congratulations to the crowd.

The reason for the unorthodox haircut and the subsequent praise? InsureMe had reached a significant milestone: at least 90 percent of employees had participated in the company's charitable giving program.

McTavish put his youthful locks on the line and challenged his employees to reach 90 percent participation of at least $10 per month. InsureMe employees generously responded with an average donation of over $1,000. InsureMe proceeded to match each dollar donated with three of its own, raising over $200,000 for various humanitarian organizations.

"I'm impressed with the generosity of InsureMe employees," said McTavish. "The only regret I have is that the haircut coincided with a pretty steep drop in temperature here in Colorado."

When asked why he volunteered his hair, McTavish said he wanted a goal that would be "somewhat radical but not permanent." He also had to consider another theory: "As my wife says, maybe I've subconsciously wanted to do this for some time."

Indeed, the haircut had some supporters. The most outspoken approval came from InsureMe copywriter Megan Mahan, who suggested McTavish keep it indefinitely.
