BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2007--The construction company USM-4 has begun reconstruction of access roads to the Jerooy gold deposit.

Under the contract between CJSC Jerooyaltyn and USM-4, 29.8 km of access roads are to meet all current safety requirements, and the speed of construction should be high. Deadlines have been set, with penalties to apply in the event of delays.

A large number of engineering structures are to be renovated, including pipelines, bridges and road-side embankments to prevent vehicles from ditching.

The project requires over 250,000 cubic meters of drilling and blasting operations. Specifically for this purpose, two crushing units for road building materials such as chippings and sand will be built.

A high-capacity concrete mixing station will be built to provide material for the renovation and construction of all roads and engineering structures, including construction of gold-processing plant.

All works must be carried out in accordance with the plan, which has been approved by experts at the Federal Committee for Mining and Industrial Supervision, the State Architectural-and-Constructional Surveillance Inspectorate and the State Agency on Environment Protection.

At present, road-building equipment and brigades of workers have arrived at the gold deposit. SU-93, a specialized organization for drilling and blasting operations, and CJSC Zholchu are participating as contractors.

Ore transportation from the mine will be by cableway

The company is now planning the construction of a 15-kilometer cargo cableway. This would help protect the environment and cut costs for ore transportation from the mine to the gold processing plant.

The construction of a cargo cableway will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage, an initial 5 km will be built and put into operation to permit ore to be transported from the mine to a temporary transfer site. From there, the ore will be carried to the gold processing plant by truck. Construction of the next 10 km of the cable way will proceed in tandem.

Meanwhile, Jerooyaltyn is currently conducting negotiations with a number of firms which specialize in the design and production of the equipment for mining industry.

Jerooy Altyn CJSC is a joint venture formed by GLOBAL G.O.L.D. Holding Gmbh, Austria, and Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC. GLOBAL G.O.L.D. Holding Gmbh owns 60% in Jerooy Altyn, and Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC holds the remaining 40%.

The Jerooy deposit is located in the North-Western part of Kyrgyzstan, in the Talas region. According to preliminary estimates, Jerooy's reserves consist of up to 11.8 million tons of ore and 74.7 tons of gold with 6.3 grams per ton average gold content. This is the second biggest gold deposit in the country. Its development is one of the most important elements in Kyrgysztan's economic development.
