DURHAM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2007--QSR magazine, the
leading trade publication for information on the $180 billion quick-serve restaurant industry, announced today that it is devoting the majority of its March 2007 issue to sustainable restaurant practices. The operation of restaurants in an eco-friendly way has been given little attention in trade publications and by restaurateurs in the past, but according to QSR magazine, it is an idea whose time has come.

"We believe that in the near future, restaurant patrons are going to demand more environmental responsibility from the places they eat," says Sherri Daye Scott, editor of QSR magazine. "For the past ten years, the push by consumers had been toward better nutrition and better food. I think we can add environmental responsibility to that list."

QSR magazine and www.QSRmagazine.com, the publication's web site, have devoted much space to this subject in the past, including a five-year packaging awards program that, among other things, recognizes package designers and manufacturers for their contributions to eco-friendly packaging. But according to Scott, the devotion of almost entire issue to a single subject is rare. "We think sustainable restaurant practice is one of those subjects that warrant this kind of coverage."

Included in the March eco-issue of QSR are coverage of McDonald's, Panera Bread, Burgerville, and Coca-Cola that involve eco-friendly waste management, green-certified development, and sustainable restaurant management strategies.

In the past, QSR sustainable restaurant stories in the magazine have included "Another Option," published May, 2005 (www.qsrmagazine.com/anotheroption,) "Food Without Borders," published in September, 2006 (www.qsrmagazine.com/foodwithoutborders,) and "Serving Green," published in November, 2006 (www.qsrmagazine.com/servinggreen.)
