IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2007--Advanced BioCatalytics Corporation (ABC) has received NSF International Certification for the use of its product, Accell(R), as a Drinking Water Treatment Chemical. Accell(R) has been tested and Certified by NSF as meeting NSF/ANSI Standard 60. NSF Standard 60 Certification addresses the health effects of products in the water industry.
ABC has patents issued covering the use of Accell(R) to reduce and prevent biofilm fouling of cross flow membranes such as ultra, micro, and reverse osmosis filtration systems and membrane bio-reactors. These membranes are used in process water treatment, purification of drinking water and desalinization of salt water.
Accell(R)'s benefits to the potable water treatment industry are:
2. Extends the life of existing or new membranes by increasing
time intervals between chemical cleaning, thereby reducing
exposure to aggressive chemical cleaners.
3. Most importantly, Accell(R) reduces high energy costs by
minimizing back pressure caused by R.O. membrane biofouling.
Energy to pump water through membranes is a major cost factor
that must be dealt with in order for desalinization to become
a significant source of freshwater supply in the U.S. and
elsewhere.
