HOLLYWOOD, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2007--Anne Kolb Nature Center will be all abuzz in June! In conjunction with Pollinator Week, June 24-30, 2007 and the release of a United States Postage Stamp honoring bees and other pollinators, BeeCeuticals Organics(TM) will present a Bee-In(TM) on Sunday, June 24th in the air conditioned Mangrove Hall at Anne Kolb Nature Center, 751 Sheridan Street, Hollywood, Florida. Admission is free and the event is open to the public. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the important role pollinators play in our lives and to bring awareness to the problems the bees are facing today.

In honor of National Pollinator week and to thank all those attending the Bee-In(TM), BeeCeuticals Organics(TM) will be launching its Trees for Bees(TM) program on June 24th by planting 10,000 pollinator-friendly trees. The program not only provides forage for bees but also helps offset global carbon emissions, supports farming and beekeeping and prevents soil erosion brought on by deforestation.

BeeCeuticals Organics(TM) (pronounced "Bee- Soo-ti-kuh ls") is a line of body care products created by Fort Lauderdale residents Richie and Julie Gerber, former owners of The Bread of Life. BeeCeuticals Organics products are based on the fact that honey contains therapeutic benefits for the skin. Products include Honey Thyme(TM) Hand and Body Lotion, Queen Bee for a Day Cream(TM), Bee Line Free(TM) Eye Cream, Bee-yond Body Balm(TM), Royal Treatment Night Cream, and Bee-Hair-Now(TM) Hydrating Honey Shampoo & Conditioner, and all are made with their proprietary 100% Organic Holistic Honey Blend(TM).

As a company, BeeCeuticals Organics(TM) has been involved in researching and developing skin care formulas for almost four years. The Gerbers began to use honey and other substances from the bee hive and became fascinated by the bees. Currently, bee populations have been rapidly diminishing due to pesticides and disease. BeeCeuticals Organics(TM) works with organizations that are trying to save the bees. When they learned about the problems facing these noble insects, they decided to make saving the bees a major part of their corporate mission.

"Bees are an integral part of our world," said Richie Gerber. "Bees get a bad reputation because they sting but in economic terms, insect-pollinated plants provide us with about one-third of the foods we eat, including apples, pears, citrus fruits, carrots, grapes, olives, tomatoes, almonds, chocolate, and most flowers!"

This free, family-friendly event will take place from 1:30pm to 5pm and will feature educational and informative programs for children and adults as well as live music. Refreshments will be available, free of charge. There will be a Kid's corner with children's activities such as story telling, arts and crafts, face painting and more. A speaker from the University of Florida will be providing the latest information on bees, colony collapse disorder and what we can do to help Save the Bees. A cooking demonstration on the uses of honey will be presented. An Anne Kolb Nature Center naturalist will be conducting guided Pollinator Adventure Hikes, compliments of BeeCeuticals Organics(TM). The hikes have space limitations, first come, first served. In addition, there will be booths throughout the pavilion providing information on environmental issues, beekeeping, environmentally friendly gardening, safe pest control and more.

The week of June 24th-30th has been designated as National Pollinator Week by the United States Senate and the United States Department of Agriculture. A Pollinator stamp series will be issued by the United States Postal Service on Friday, June 29th. Created by artist Steve Buchanan, the 20-stamp booklet features four wildflowers and four pollinators and emphasizes the ecological relationship between pollinators and plants. Pollination, the transfer of pollen within flowers, or from one flower to another of the same species, is the basis for fruit and seed production. Nearly 80% of our world's crop plants require pollination. Birds, bees, butterflies, but also beetles, mosquitoes, and even bats transfer pollen between seed plants. This function is vital for plant reproduction.

This event is reminiscent of the Be-Ins of the 60s when communities of people would get together to raise awareness about the environment and other social issues. The Gerbers want to create a community of caring citizens who will work together to help our environment and in this way help to Save the Bees(TM).

"We wanted to hold an event that celebrates the bee," said Julie Gerber. "We encourage the public to attend our Bee-In(TM) for fun and informative ways they can help our environment. Richie and I attended sit-ins in our day and we hope to help raise awareness about the serious plight of the bees and of our ecosystem.

"We are happy to be holding this event at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, named in memory of Broward County Commissioner, Anne Kolb.
Mrs. Kolb was known for her commitment to protecting the environment,"
said Julie Gerber.
