PORTLAND, OR - October 23, 2007 - Climate Clean, the only offset provider to address all six of the dangerous greenhouse gases, announced today that Dr. David Shearer, Founder, Interim Chief Science Officer, and developer of the offset methodology for Climate Clean, has been invited to address Point Carbon's "Carbon Market Insights Americas 2007," in New York City October 29-31.

Dr. Shearer, who was a scientist on the Toyota Prius design team, will participate in a roundtable discussion, "What Carbon Standard?", focused on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) methodologies and offset protocols, including an examination of which standard is a developer's best bet, and how to develop avoided deforestation methodologies. Joining Dr. Shearer will be moderator David Hayes from Stanford University and panelists Laurent Segalen of International Carbon Investors & Services, Marty Gitlin of AgCert International, and Caitlin Sparks of The Gold Standard.

"With so many questions about standards and a lack of consistency in how they are measures and developed, it's vitally important to have open discussions about methodologies and protocols," said Dr. Shearer. "Especially in the voluntary U.S. market, building the right foundation for upcoming state, local, and federal regulations is critical."

More than 1,000 participants are expected to attend the Point Carbon conference, which will feature speakers from all aspects of the carbon industry and look to reflect the emergence of carbon markets in North America, with a special focus on the role of technology in these markets. In addition to Dr. Shearer, speakers include representatives from EcoSecurities, Pew Center on Global Climate Change, Merrill Lynch, and California Climate Action Registry. Point Carbon’s March 2007 Carbon Markets Insights event gathered 1600 delegates from more than 60 countries, representing more than 600 companies, organizations and governments.
