PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 2007--GreenPrint Technologies, the maker of software designed to eliminate wasteful printing, announced that starting today it will plant one tree for every copy of GreenPrint's Home Edition sold through its website - PrintGreener.com.

The campaign's goal is to plant 500,000 trees on behalf of its customers by the end of March. If achieved, GreenPrint plans to match every tree planted with an additional tree, making March 2007 a "Million Tree March."

GreenPrint was founded on the idea that saving money and saving the environment can go hand in hand. By installing GreenPrint, users can eliminate wasteful pages in any printout automatically, saving time and money, and, more importantly, saving trees, reducing greenhouse gasses, and decreasing waste.

The company's "Million Tree March" campaign allows customers to have a meaningful impact immediately, as well as every time they print. "If GreenPrint is widely used it will save tens of millions of trees annually," said founder Hayden Hamilton, "The Million Tree March provides a good head start."

"This is a simple initiative that will yield profound benefits to our environment for generations to come," said Greg Meyer of American Forests, one of GreenPrint's tree-planting partners, which also include Sustainable Harvests International and Friends of Trees.

Customers will be offered the choice of planting the tree in their name, or in the name of a friend or family member. A list of the recipients and the type and location of their tree will be available on GreenPrint's website. In addition, a map on PrintGreener.com will show how many trees have been donated by state and country.

GreenPrint software, which has received a great deal of positive press in the two months since launch, including a glowing review by Walt Mossberg in The Wall Street Journal, is available for $35 at PrintGreener.com. As well as eliminating wasteful pages, it also incorporates an easy to use PDF writer, an innovative print overview called GreenView, and a reporting feature which keeps track of paper and money saved. An enterprise version which provides additional functionality and environmental savings for organizations is also available.

GreenPrint Technologies

GreenPrint Technologies is the maker of products that are designed to reduce waste in home and office printing including: GreenPrint World software - free for home users, schools and non-profits, GreePrint Home and Enterprise software for PCs, GreenPrint Mac for OSX, and the EverGreen Font for Mac and PC. GreenPrint software eliminates wasteful pages in any printout automatically, saving time, money, and trees. GreenPrint does this by analyzing each page of every document sent to the printer and looking for typical waste characteristics (like that last page with just a URL, banner ad, logo, or legal jargon). GreenPrint also incorporates an easy to use PDF writer, an innovative print preview, and a reporting feature which keeps track of the number of pages and the amount of money saved. GreenPrint will have a staggering environmental impact when widely adopted. If all new computers sold in 2006 used GreenPrint, 36 million trees would be saved, reducing CO2 emissions by over 117 tons - the equivalent of taking 23 million cars off the road for an entire year! The average Fortune 500 company using GreenPrint will save over $2 million, 4000 trees and prevent more than 12,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
