PORTLAND, OREGON - August 21, 2007 - When people drink water from a river or reservoir, pull a fish or two from their favorite fishing hole or enjoy a river float on a hot summer day, they might not give much thought to the challenges communities face to protect these resources. For the second consecutive year, River Network and Busch Beer, brewed by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., will help to continue making these activities a reality by partnering to protect the rivers and watersheds of Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

"River Network believes that strong community-based groups are our best opportunity to protect and restore our rivers, lakes, streams, estuaries and watersheds," says Don Elder, president of River Network. "We are grateful that Anheuser-Busch continues its support to help preserve our precious waters for all people, wildlife and future generations, and strongly believe that this renewed financial investment will pay great long-term dividends to the citizens of Oregon and Washington."

This partnership will boost River Network's efforts to provide assistance and technical training to nearly 100 grassroots organizations in the Northwest, and help in their local efforts to improve the quality of rivers and their watersheds in hundreds of communities.

Anheuser-Busch will also provide resources for a cleanup and restoration project on the White Salmon River. Designated for protection under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, the White Salmon is a breathtaking combination of whitewater and scenery. Fed by natural springs flowing from the glaciers of Mt. Adams, the White Salmon cascades through narrow, cliff lined basalt canyons and then streams through a forested valley before ending its journey into the Columbia River.

Additionally, as a way to celebrate outdoor recreation, River Network and Busch Beer will award an exciting whitewater rafting trip in September to one lucky winner and five friends. Through August 28, 2007, adults 21 and over may register at www.buschwhitewater.com to win a premium Northwest adventure, featuring an overnight stay at a Columbia River Gorge resort followed by a day-long whitewater rafting trip on the White Salmon and an evening under the stars at the "ultimate Busch camp," which features tents, sleeping bags, grills, camp chairs, coolers, fleece apparel, hats and more.

"We are pleased to work with River Network to create awareness about the importance of protecting our rivers and particularly to help protect the White Salmon River," said Jim Gorczyca, director of value brands for Anheuser-Busch. "For more than 100 years, our company has had a rich tradition of protecting the environment, including our water resources so that future generations will be able to enjoy them just as we do."
