Phoenix, AZ and Tokyo, Japan "“ January 7, 2009- The Fujitsu Research Institute a global leader in enterprise technology services and information management standards, has joined The Open Compliance & Ethics Group's growing International Technology Council to help improve Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) information management in global enterprises. The inclusion of Fujitsu Research Institute's expertise in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) for internal controls and risk management will help the Technology Council's rapid development of GRC eXtensible Markup Language (XML) information standards.

"Like OCEG, we are committed to advancing the understanding and application of information technology to GRC, especially as it relates to XML and XBRL adoption," said Yuji Furusho, Deputy Division Manager of the ICD/XBRL Group at Fujitsu Research Institute. "We look forward to collaborating with the other council members devoted to developing messaging standards and the taxonomy needed to improve GRC information management in global enterprises."

"With support from the US Securities and Exchange Commission and growing interest among regulators in the leading global economies, the pace of XBRL adoption for compliance and risk-related reporting is set to accelerate in 2009" said Lane Leskela, OCEG's Vice President of Technology Programs. "OCEG is thrilled that Fujitsu Research Institute has joined our Technology Council at this turning point in the development of technology standards for integrated GRC management. As a global provider of XBRL tools and GRC management software, OCEG members will benefit from Fujitsu Research Institute's dedication to risk and compliance technology standards."

Fujitsu Research Institute is one of the few Japanese think tanks and consulting firms with expertise in all three key areas concerned in solving the management issues facing its customers: consulting to propose new business models, business reform and integration of management with IT; research & development to offer business solutions that integrate sciences with IT; and economic research for policy recommendations on progressive and sustainable social, economic and industrial environments.

OCEG's Technology Council addresses the strategic, operational and technical issues that professionals face when applying information technology (IT) to governance, risk, compliance (GRC) and ethics management, and when applying GRC to IT. Technology Council members participate in three work groups, focused on developing the OCEG GRC Blueprint(TM), OCEG GRC Roadmap(TM), and OCEG GRC-XML(TM). OCEG Technology Council programs are available to all OCEG enterprise members from both the end-user and the GRC software, services and content provider communities.
