LOS ANGELES, Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Evidence of Evolution, the fashion label designed by burgeoning, eco-chic artists Ali Alborzi and Andrew McCarthy, will debut its Spring/Summer 2008 Green collection as the "Mercedes-Benz Presents" designer for this season's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios (MBFWSS), October 14-18. The Evidence of Evolution Green collection will show on October 17 at 7:00 PM in The Lightbox. Other Mercedes-Benz highlights during fashion week include the launch of the new and innovative Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Newgroup Web site, which features complimentary photography and news information, as a convenient, environmentally sound resource. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz will debut its latest eco-friendly design, the E320 BLUETEC, powered by the world's cleanest diesel engine, to audiences for its California debut.

As part of its on-going effort to strengthen the global commitment to green living, Mercedes-Benz chose to sponsor Evidence of Evolution Green, the environmentally conscious line by designers Ali Alborzi and Andrew McCarthy at MBFWSS. "Mercedes-Benz is delighted to be partnering with Evidence of Evolution, a company that has developed a green line made entirely with premium organic fabrics," says Lisa Holladay, National Events Manager, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. "Their determination to create chic, sleek, luxurious and eco-friendly fashion for both men and women compliments the initiatives that Mercedes-Benz is highlighting this season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios."

Using low-impact dyes and no VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) water-based paints for silk screening and participating in Carbon Free Business (a partner of carbonfund.org) to offset its carbon footprint, Evidence of Evolution Green has gone to great lengths to support eco-consciousness within the fashion industry.

"We are a complimentary design team. I use my artistic background as a photographer, while Andrew, who has worked for Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada, uses his knowledge of fabrics, fits and finishes. We were thrilled when Barneys New York asked us to design a new collection made of eco-friendly and organic fabrics," comments Ali Alborzi. Evidence of Evolution Green will feature such items as slim, deconstructed suits in premium organic sateen cotton for men and fluid, organic cotton voile dresses for women. The one-of-a-kind, handcrafted articles, outlined with original artwork, reintroduce fashion in an extraordinarily organic form. The designers successfully created unique techniques that allowed them to construct a vibrant and conscious collection without sacrificing any creativity.

Continuing the "green" trends of MBFWSS, journalists will now be able to utilize the exclusive new Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Newsgroup Web site, a resource that houses press information, show schedules, designer profiles and complimentary, high-resolution photography for registered media in a paperless format. The Web site will also feature coverage from fashion week parties, events and shows: www.newsgroup.mbusa.com.

As sustainable engineering has become an integral part of Mercedes-Benz's global commitment, MBFWSS will also feature the California debut of the Mercedes-Benz E320 BLUETEC automobile, named 2007 World Green Car of the Year. The impressive combination of high power, torque, fuel economy and operating range ensures that the E320 BLUETEC vehicle offers an ideal drive concept for the American market.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios will take place in Culver City, California, at Smashbox Studios, from October 14-18. Approximately 30 designers will present their Spring/Summer 2008 collections, including Sue Wong, Chick by Nicki Hilton, Randolph Duke and Kevan Hall. Mercedes-Benz has been the title sponsor of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios since its inception in Los Angeles in 2003.
